Cranky old man, why you?

We got along so well.
You even snuggled close to me when I was there to take care of you.
Not everyone agreed with it but I did not care.
You are my pal and we enjoyed each others company every day.
We weren’t always like this.
I remember the time when we first met.. we really got off the wrong track.
As time grew, we grew.
We became closer and closer.
I was even allowed to pick you up without comments. Yeah you, cranky old man, I believe you loved me too! You purred as I gave you candy or food.
In those 10 days when I was there, I saw you as you, not you as cranky old man.
I loved it and so did you.
We had a wonderful time together.
I wish you did not have those tumors, I wish that all of this wasn’t true but just a bad dream.
Unfortunately it isn’t and I had to say goodbye.
My cranky old man.. you will always live on in my heart and mind.
